Practical things you can do to be a “person of peace” in your community.
In Luke 10, Jesus sends out the 72 disciples. In verses 6-7 Jesus teaches, "when you find a person of peace in that town, stay there, eating their food and drinking." In 2020 (and in Jesus' time), a "person of peace" is someone that truly loves Jesus, is deeply rooted in their community, and is a relational bridge for the message of Jesus' kingdom.

Use Next Door, Facebook, etc., to reach out to your neighbor and find people who need support (financial, emotional, mental, spiritual).
Go out of your way to donate needed items and finances to community organizations.
Call and check in on someone who is isolated or quarantined.
Chip in with others to give grocery gift cards, child care, or cash for rent (anonymously if possible).
Pray for the sick and those vulnerable to infection around the world.
Invite someone to livestream Sunday preview service or attend prayer re-gatherings, and then discuss it with them afterwards.
Write a letter of thanks or shoot an encouraging video to your local hospital workers (cleaning crews, health care crew, administration…) and tell them why you are doing it.
Pray for those who may have lost jobs or are struggling financially.
Pray for nurses, cleaning crews, doctors, etc. putting themselves at risk to treat sick patients.
Check in with kids and teens in your life to process any questions they may have about viruses, their bodies, the stress of social distancing (age appropriate & with parental permission).
Pick up (or offer to pick up) groceries for someone who should not be going themselves.
Leave an encouraging and hope filled note with 2-3 neighbors as you follow safety precautions.
