What does “One Six Eight” mean?
Who We Are
-
In 1 Chronicles 16:8, King David dances as the ark of God comes back to His people. "Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name [pursue Jesus]; make known his deeds [participate in the community]; among the peoples [proclaim Jesus]!” (1 Chron. 16:8)
David is excited about a new story! A new story where God’s people are pursuing Jesus, participating in the flourishing of our city, and proclaiming God among all people. That’s where our mission statement comes from.
Additionally:You have 24 hours in a day and 7 days a week. Which means, you have 168 hours in one week. We want to help you leverage every single hour for Jesus.
-
We want to help people pursue Jesus (2 Tim. 2:22), participate in the flourishing of our communities (Jer. 29:5-7), and proclaim Jesus among all people (Gen. 22:18). That’s our mission statement.
Therefore, our community strives to live by these values.
engagement over entertainment: we give sacrificially for the renewal of our communities (Lk. 21:4).
community over autonomy:we joyfully surrender to community, journeying together and not alone (Acts 2:42).
prayer over self-reliance: we pray specifically, believing that God is the one who changes lives. (2 Chron. 7:14).
multiplication over addition: we send leaders as we provide biblical knowledge, experience and coaching (Lk. 10:1).
diversity over uniformity: we pursue an ethnic and economic mosaic that is full of patience, grace, and truth (Jn. 4:39).
