4 Practices
Facilitate a “Stop. Think. And Thank God” conversation around the dinner table each night. Say, “Let’s take a few minutes and go around the table and: Stop. Think. And thank God.” What comes to mind? How did God show up today in your life? What are you thankful for? (tip: make sure to think about examples you can share. Identify an activity that day e.g., going to the park… that might be an easy starting point for your conversation.)
Find a notebook and write “Stop. Think. Thank God” on it. Encourage your family to write in it throughout the week. Then, designate a day (e.g., Friday night dinner) as a moment to review all the ways God showed up! (tip: any new habit will take time and encouragement. Make sure to encourage your kids or set an alarm each day for the family to write in it.)
Write the things you are thankful for, or the ways you see God in your life on small pieces of paper and put them in a jar. Then at the end of each month, year or special occasion (e.g., someone’s birthday…), go back and read them together as a family.
Come up with your own fun way to incorporate “Stop. Think. And Thank God,” and let us know so we can encourage others to do the same!
